Dragonball - Tournaments 21st Tenka'ichi Budokai Preparations Introduction | Summary | Preparations | First Match | Second Match | Third Match | Fourth Match | Fifth Match | Sixth Match | Final Match Starting in Volume 2 of Viz's commercially-sold Dragonball manga, the young Goku heads to Muten Roshi/The Invincible Old Master/The Turtle Hermit/Kame Sen'nin/etc. to receive training until the Dragonball hunt begins the next year. When he arrives, Kame Sen'nin is oogling a fitness show where girls are spreading their legs for an excercise. Kame Sen'nin tells Goku there's food in the fridge and that he can go ahead and eat while he watches the show. When the show ends, Kame Sen'nin discovers that Goku has eaten all of the food in his fridge, even the butter. Goku agrees he'll train even if it's tough. Kame Sen'nin tells Goku he must fetch him a "hottie" before he will train him. Goku leaves on Kinto'Un and Kame Sen'nin gets dressed up, gets out the wine, and turns on some music. To his horror, Goku arrives with an extremely huge and fat woman. Later, Kame Sen'nin shows Goku a picture of a hot girl, and has Goku attempt to find him a "hottie" again. Goku leaves and eventually returns with what looks to be exactly what Kame Sen'nin wants. He has Goku come to him behind the house and tells him to get the girl's panties. Goku comes back, telling him that the girl says she is only wearing a shirt, and has no panties. After Kame Sen'nin quells his nose bleed, he goes to meet this girl and it turns out she's a Mermaid, who hits Kame Sen'nin in the face after he asks if he can feel her chest. Later, Kuririn arrives on a row-boat. Kuririn gives Kame Sen'nin a porno magazine so that he may be accepted as a pupil. Goku starts to laugh at Kuririn for looking funny, but Kuririn tells him that he shaves his head so that he can "unfetter his ki." Kame Sen'nin has them both go fetch him a hot girl again (this time hoping for better since Kuririn knows what a "hottie" is). As Kuririn and Goku head on Kinto'Un, Kuririn learns that Goku can only tell if someone's a male or female by patting their crotches. Kuririn says, "Let me tell you up front, I'm a male." While they fly, they spot a beautiful girl racing from the police on a motorcycle. They are both shooting back and forth and it looks as if she's about to get away, until her hair tickles her nose, causing her to sneeze. We learn that she is "Lunch" and whenever she sneezes, she turns from her evil personality into her sweet and kind personality (and vice versa). She shrieks for help when the police try to arrest her and Goku comes to her rescue (while Kuririn hides). Goku easily K.O.'s both cops and they take her on Kinto'Un back to Kame Sen'nin's. As soon as he sees Lunch, Kame Sen'nin accepts both Goku and Kuririn as his disciples. Kame Sen'nin asks Lunch if she'd like to train with him and stay with them all for a while. He tells her she can stay forever for all he cares and he tells her she just needs to change into a uniform. She starts to change right there and Kuririn says, "Hot-cha! You're going to change right here?!" She replies, "Oh right! I should go inside," angering Kame Sen'nin that Kuririn said that to her. It turns out the "uniform" was just fancy underwear. She walks out saying, "maybe the packages got mixed up..." and it turns out they're all wearing the same underwear too. A wasp starts to fly around them, tickling her nose. She sneezes and becomes her violent form again, starting to shoot a machine gun at them. She sneezes again, turning back into her nice form, dropping the gun and apologizing. Kame Sen'nin turns the "Kame House" back into a capsule and they move to a much bigger island. Lunch decides she will cook dinner for them, rather than train. Lunch goes inside and Kame Sen'nin tells he will see how fast they can run from where the boulder they are standing next to, to a tree exactly 100 meters away. Kuririn volunteers to go first, making the run in 10.4 seconds. Goku tries next, making it in 11 seconds flat. He tells them he wants to change his shoes, because his are all busted up and broken. After he gets on better shoes, he makes the run in 8.5 seconds. Kame Sen'nin volunteers to go, making the run in 5.6 seconds. Kuririn goes back into the house to get Kame Sen'nin a beer from Lunch. Unfortunately Lunch sneezes and chases Kuririn with a butcher knife, yelling for him to give her her beer back. Next, Kame Sen'nin draws his "turtle symbol" on a rock and throws it off a cliff. He tells them whoever finds it first is the winner... and only the winner will get dinner. They race to the edge and Goku just jumps off the cliff. As Goku looks, Kuririn comes up with an idea. He finds a rock that looks the same and draws the turtle symbol himself. He brings it back to Kame Sen'nin, saying he found it. Kame Sen'nin takes a look at it and hurls it right at Kuririn's head. Kuririn goes to search for it in the jungle, getting attacked by wild animals on the way. He finds Goku after Goku yells he found it and asks to have a look at the rock. Goku hands it to him and Kuririn takes off. Goku chases him but Kuririn cuts a bridge on the way back. He turns back to see Goku is still chasing him. Kuririn turns around and spars with Goku. Goku wins and Kuririn throws a rock far away. Goku chases after it, but Kuririn takes the real rock back to Kame Sen'nin. They all have dinner, while Goku watches hungrily and it turns out they all get food poisoning the next day.. all except Goku that is. The next day, Kame Sen'nin wakes up and goes upstairs to see what position Lunch sleeps in. He sees that Goku was lucky enough to sleep with her... but then he sees she's in her violent form. He pokes Goku with a broom so he doesn't wake her up, but Goku yells up speaking very loudly. This wakes Lunch up and she starts to shoot at Goku. Goku kicks her in the face, knocking her out. After Kame Sen'nin explains one shouldn't study martial arts for personal needs, but to help others, they start off training with some light jogging. They stop at a house where he gets a jug of milk cartons. The guy (well, boar-man) that gives them milk is baffled that they aren't going to use the helicopter in the delivery. Kame Sen'nin and co. do the first two kilometers by skipping. After having delivered alot of the milk, they run zig-zag style. When they get to a huge stair climb, he lets them walk. Now, both Goku and Kuririn are out of breath. After delivering some milk to some monk, Kame Sen'nin tells him that Goku and Kuririn have potential and will be entered in the Tenkai'ichi Budokai tournament in eight months. After going through all kinds of obstacles to finish delivering the milk (getting chased by a dinosaur, quicksand, walking over a long over a river), Kame Sen'nin is done showing them their early morning routine. Their morning routine is to plow huge fields with their hands. After they eat breakfast, it is "study" time until lunch... but Goku is asked to read a passage from what sounds like a porn magazine. From 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM is nap time and their next training excercise is construction. After their construction excercises, they head to a lake to do swimming excercises. Goku asks Kame Sen'nin to teach them some moves, angering Kame Sen'nin into spitting on the ground. Kame Sen'nin's replies: "How dare you little fledglings. How dare you be so insolent?! You haven't even laid the barest foundations of strength or stamina, and yet you expect for me to teach you some 'moves'?!!" He tells Goku and Kuririn that he will teach them martial arts technique when they have enough power to move a certain huge boulder (almost twice as high as Kame Sen'nin). Kuririn thinks it's impossible for someone to move a boulder of that size, until Kame Sen'nin proves him wrong by pushing it. They turn to see Goku pushing on the boulder with all his might. Surprising them both, Goku pushes the boulder around 10 feet away! Kame Sen'nin points out another boulder than's atleast three times higher than the one Goku just pushed. Kuririn and Goku ask him to push it and he tells them they shouldn't get distracted. For their next training routine, they are to swim from one shore to the other for 10 laps. As they swim, it turns out they are chased by a shark the whole way. For their next excercise, they are tied to a tree to test their reflexes. Kame Sen'nin walks up to a beehive, hits it, and runs away as Kuririn and Goku are chased and stung by bees. When the day's training is complete, they are told by Kame Sen'nin that from now on, they are to wear 20-kilogram turtle-shells! They train these excercises wearing the 20-kilogram turtle shells for the next eight months. Then, near their last amount of time before the tournament, they train with 40-kilo turtle shells. When they take them off to get used to not wearing them, they can't even feel their own weight.
