Dragonball - Tournaments

21st Tenka'ichi Budokai
Introduction

Introduction | Summary | Preparations | First Match | Second Match | Third Match | Fourth Match | Fifth Match | Sixth Match | Final Match

The Tenka'ichi Budokai means "The Strongest Under the Heavens." Before Dragonball, Goku's Foster-Grandfather, Son Gohan, participated in this event. Muten Roshi has participated in this event for a long time and was the winner most of the time, if not every time. Unfortunately, Kame Sen'nin's Power Level always remains the same throughout ALL of Dragonball, so he eventually loses as his disciples and other opponents become stronger than even him.

The competitors train hard for this event, especially in Dragonball. In the qualifying rounds, the weaker competitors are eliminated until only the eight best remain.

The basic rules of this tournament is: you automatically lose or are disqualified if you:
  • Say, "Mercy" or "I give up."
  • Go out of bounds (with Goku they made an exception in this Tenka'ichi Budokai).
  • Kill your opponent.
  • Are knocked unconscious.
  • Are down on the ground for a count of ten.
  • Use a foreign object (such as a weapon).
  • Leave during the tournament.
  • Hit the opponent's gentle parts, such as the eyes, or genitals.
The semi-finalist rounds have an unlimited amount of time to them. There is a referree for each match and the audience comes once the Tenka'ichi Budokai begins (when there are eight opponents left). One competitor competes against another competitor in a pre-determined order until there is one winner. In this section, I will explain just about everything I can in Dragonball's 21st Tenka'Ichi Budokai.

Each of the matches above are the battles of the finalists. The winner of this Tenka'ichi Budokai will win "500,000 Zeni." I will add more to this section as I purchase more of the manga.
