21st Tenka'ichi Budokai
Match 4: Goku vs. Giran

Introduction | Summary | Preparations | First Match | Second Match | Third Match | Fourth Match | Fifth Match | Sixth Match | Final Match

After having to wake up Goku and quickly bring him back to the platform, the announcer begins match four. Giran gets Goku to "see what's in his hand" and Giran slams Goku into the wall. Even though Goku shatters the wall, he gets up and is perfectly fine except for a bruise on his cheek. Goku attacks Giran, but their punches collide. Next, Goku hits Giran in the stomach. Then Goku Giran up by the tail and throws him out of the arena.

Unfortunately, Giran doesn't fall on the ground... he is able to fly back. Now, Giran spits out "Lassoo Gum," which entangles Goku. As Goku is unable to move, Giran hits him in the head and then picks him up and throws him out of bounds. While in the air, Goku calls for Kinto'Un, which catches him and puts Goku back on the platform.

After the announcer talks with the head priest, they determine that they will allow the use of Kinto'Un as a special exception... but Goku is not allowed to use it any more. When Giran throws a punch at Goku, it looks as if Goku has vanished but it turns out Goku is hanging by his tail on Giran's arm (his tail grew back!). Now Goku lands on the ground and actually manages to bust free of the "Lassoo Gum." Goku goes to attack Giran, but Giran gives up. We learn after this battle that Goku really is 12 years old, not fifteen...
