Introduction

Introduction | Preliminary Matches | First Match | Second Match | Third Match | Fourth Match

The Story:

The story for this tournament begins after Goku wishes Upa's father back to life. Kame Sen'nin accepts Kuririn and Yamcha as pupils for further training. However, since he has taught Goku all he can, he has Goku journey across the world without using Kinto'un.

Due to the Tenka'ichi Budokai's gain in popularity, it shifts to a frequency of every three years instead of five. The 22nd Tenka'ichi Budokai takes place on Papaya Island. We discover that Goku swims halfway across the world to get there. There are 182 contestants. The prize is 500,000 zeni.

Kame Sen'nin's rival, Tsuru Sen'nin (the Crane Master), has entered this tournament with two of his students, Chaozu and Tenshinhan. We learn during the tournament that Tao Pai Pai was Tsuru Sen'nin's younger brother.

The Rules:
  • Fights are one-on-one.
  • There is no time limit.
  • Anyone who touches anything outside of the ring, calls for mercy, or is knocked unconscious automatically loses.
  • The use of weapons is prohibited.
