DBZ Chapter 76: Premonitions of War
As Kuririn and Gohan slowly fly to the Great Elder's place, Vegeta decides that he must sit
with his dragonballs for the time being to protect them from Gohan and the others' dragonball
radar, even though Freeza most likely radioed someone to bring scouters. Vegeta then attunes
his senses so as to pick up on Gohan or Kuririn's chi. Elsewhere, in space, Goku trains hard
and without rest at 100 times earth's gravity. What he doesn't realize, the narration says, is
that he is undergoing one of the best training methods the saiya-jin have, facing and overcoming
death repeatedely, by training to the point of death and eating a senszu to regain his strength
for more training. Eventually, Goku realizes his training hardly tires him out anymore, and decides
to use his last day before arriving on Namek by resting and getting used to normal gravity.
Meanwhile, almost four days after the point where the story left off with Gohan and the others,
Freeza realizes that Zarbon must've run away or died and Vegeta doesn't have all of the dragonballs,
since nothing dramatic has happened. Elsewhere, Gohan and Kuririn decide they're far enough from
Vegeta where he can't sense them and with Goku almost there, they can go ahead and fly quickly
the rest of the way to the Great Elder's house. After Kuririn figures they'll reach the place
in an hour at their speed, Vegeta senses their chi.
DBZ Chapter 77: The Enemy of My Enemy...
Vegeta concludes that the chis he senses are Kuririn's and Gohan's. He decides to take one
dragonball with him to get theirs, just in case Bulma uses her dragonball radar to find his
while he's away. Shortly after Vegeta takes off in pursuit, Kuririn spots the Great Elder's
house but then senses someone coming up behind them. Kuririn has Gohan go on ahead to the
Great Elder's while he buys some time. As Vegeta demands to know where the dragonball is from
Kuririn, he senses something coming from the Great Elder's house and flies to it, thinking it
must be the hidden dragonball. Inside, Nail senses Vegeta's arrival and goes outside, telling him
that he's not going to let him in. Kuririn and Vegeta suddenly sense Gohan's chi increase, but
Vegeta mistakes it for Goku. Then, Vegeta's startled to see Gohan walk out, knowing that it was
him after all. Inside, the Great Elder tells Dende to tell everyone that a great unknown power
is heading to Namek. Dende relays this message to everyone and as Vegeta wonders who the Great
Elder is, Kuririn assumes that it's Goku but Gohan feels more than one chi. Vegeta then goes into
a frenzy when he realizes that Freeza must've called the Ginyu Force to the planet and tells
Gohan to give him the dragonball and he'll leave him in peace, before it's too late. Kuririn and
Gohan refuse, telling him that they won't fall for it. Vegeta explains that there are five
members of the Ginyu Force who all could be stronger than him, and once they arrive on Namek they'll
use their scouters to track them down and kill them. Vegeta tells them that their only hope
is to make him immortal, since Gohan may have the power but doesn't possess the fighting experience
to defeat the Ginyu Force. Nail admits that Vegeta could be telling the truth since he senses
five evil powers and, as Kuririn despairs over losing the dragonballs after all they've done,
tells Kuririn that he can get his wish as well since Namek's dragonballs grant three wishes.
Kuririn regretfully complies to Vegeta's demands and they quickly head to get his dragonball.
Inside, the Great Elder has Nail leave to go help them, since he still has a little while longer
before he passes away.
DBZ Chapter 78: The Ginyu Force
The Ginyu Force's spacepods crash land in front of Freeza's ship as Vegeta, Kuririn, and Gohan
quickly get the dragonball from Bulma's hiding place and head to Vegeta's dragonballs (leaving
Bulma wondering what the heck is going on). Freeza heads to the top of his ship to greet the
Ginyu Force as they exit their escape pods, land on his ship in front of him, and do introduction
poses. Ginyu asks what their job is and Freeza explains that they are to find Vegeta, make him
suffer without killing him, and bring him back for interrogation. Ginyu picks up Vegeta on his
scouter and two others with him that have a good amount of chi. Freeza figures that they must
be the two who interfered with him earlier and orders the Ginyu Force to kill them. Jheese brings
Freeza the scouters he requested and the Ginyu Force take off, in pursuit of Vegeta, Kuririn,
and Gohan. Elsewhere, in space, Goku wakes up to an electronic notice that he has twenty minutes
until the ship arrives on Namek. After getting ready, with ten minutes remaining, Goku wonders
why he feels so calm. On Namek, Gohan, Kuririn, and Vegeta arrive at Vegeta's dragonballs' location
and rush to get to them. Ginyu suddenly lands right in front of them, followed by the other four
members of the Ginyu Force. Kuririn and Gohan stand in awe and Kuririn states that they were so
fast that he didn't even feel them coming. Reacoom then spots the five dragonballs.
DBZ Chapter 79: Five Deadly Fighters
Ginyu is pleased to see that all seven dragonballs are in the area, along with the three people they
were sent after. When Vegeta asks if Ginyu was assuming he would just hand the dragonballs over,
Ginyu tells him that he'll probably have to kill him first. Kuririn trembles at the power the
Ginyu Force holds, Ginyu in particular, but wonders why a weakling like Gurd is in the group.
Vegeta finds that the Ginyu Force's scouters can only detect living beings, so he hurls his
dragonball away. Unfortunately, Butta retrieves it with speed that astounds Kuririn, Gohan,
and Vegeta. Vegeta then yells for Kuririn to destroy his dragonball and as he goes to break it,
it vanishes from his hands and Gurd is holding it. Ginyu announces that he'll take Vegeta on while
the others split up Gohan and Kuririn by doing Roshambo (paper-scissors-rock, sort of). They
then whine to him, since he got the best part of their last job too, so Ginyu agrees that the winner
of Roshambo can take on Vegeta and the runner-up gets the other two, while he delivers the dragonballs
to Freeza. As Ginyu takes off, Gohan goes to blast him but Vegeta tells him that he'd just waste
his energy when they should concentrate on defeating their current opponents. Vegeta gets Kuririn
to come over to him and tells him and Gohan that they can't let their guard down while fighting
Gurd, because he has psychic ablities. He also finds out from Kuririn that Goku isn't on Namek, but
should be there soon. Reacoom has Gurd go on ahead to get Kuririn and Gohan out of the way,
angering Gurd at the opponents he has to face. Then, Kuririn and Gohan surprise the Ginyu Force
when they release their chi, fly in opposite directions of Gurd, and fire blasts at him.
DBZ Chapter 80: Gurd's Psychic Powers
Gurd freezes time and runs away from the blasts' target. When he goes to counterattack, he doesn't
see Gohan and Kuririn behind their blasts. After he spots them and wonders how they got so far
away, he is unable to hold time any longer and Kuririn and Gohan spot him and vanish. Gurd stops
time again and sees that they were very close to him. He decides it'll take too much power to hit
them while time's frozen, so he hides behind some rocks and resumes time. To his dismay, they sense
him and fly over to attack. He decides he can't stop time anymore and instead performs a psychic
attack that freezes their bodies in place, not allowing them to move. Gurd wonders who Gohan and
Kuririn are to have such high battle powers (Reacoom measures them to be over 10,000) and to possess
the ability to know where others are without using a scouter. As Butta and Reacoom comment on
how Gohan and Kuririn are able to raise their chi without changing form and how Gurd never uses
telekinesis Vegeta wonders why they attacked him head on when they were warned of his psychic powers.
Gurd turns a tree into a large, sharp weapon, with the intention to kill one of them off quickly
while he plays around with the other one, using a different psychic ability. When he throws the tree
at Kuririn, Vegeta comes from behind and slices Gurd's head off. Kuririn moves out of the tree's path
in the nick of time and Vegeta blows Gurd's still-talking head away. Vegeta explains that he wasn't
saving them but was using the opportunity to kill Gurd. Reacoom, Jheese, and Butta are astonished
at the death of Gurd and Reacoom wonders how they're going to carry out their poses now, without
five members. Vegeta angrily despairs over the fights to come, knowing that the match against
Gurd was just a warm up.
