DBZ Chapter 71: The Dragon Balls Change Hands

The Grand Elder tells Kuririn, Dende, and Nail about how he knows that Freeza and his men are after the dragonballs, never dreaming that the spheres of hope, wisdom, and strength could lead to such horror. Kuririn asks the Grande Elder if he may borrow his dragonball. Dende tells him that if the people from earth get the dragonballs then earth's dragonballs will be reborn. Kuririn explains to the Grand Elder about the Namekian that escaped Namek in a time of crisis, creating the dragonballs on earth. The Grand Elder figures that is must've been the child of Katatz and Nail figures that he must've been a scion of the Dragon Clan. Kuririn also tells the Grand Elder about how he died. The Grand Elder knows that the Saiya-jin are evil, but he wonders how they could've been evil enough to kill the prodigy of the dragon clan. He then wonders if it was a super saiya-jin and asks for Kuririn to step over next to him so that he may probe his past. He sees that the child of Katatz split into two, when evil came into him and determines that he was foolish to have diminished his power by half. He then deems that Kuririn's intentions are pure and gives him his dragonball. He tells Kuririn that he still might not be able to get his wish, since he feels that his life will end in just a few days. Kuririn tells him that he must keep Freeza and Vegeta from having eternal life then. The Grand Elder then tells Kuririn that he felt that Kuririn was waisting dormant inner strength, which he can awaken. He releases it and hopes that he will be able to escape from evil's clutches. Kuririn is amazed at how much power he now has and thanks the Grand Elder. He then asks him if he can do the same for little kids and asks if there are any side effects to the Grand Elder from doing so. The Grand Elder tells him that he can awaken anyone's hidden power, not causing any changes to the life that he has left. He gets his permission to bring Gohan there and Nail tells him that they can use all of the help that they can find. The Grand Elder tells him to take the dragonball with him and Kuririn has Dende stay there while he brings Gohan back. He then takes off, flying quickly back to Gohan and Bulma. Meanwhile, Bulma detects the dragonball approaching them and sees a second one that is all by itself. Gohan remembers that Vegeta was attacking a village in the same direction. Since he doesn't feel his chi Bulma figures that Vegeta must've gone somewhere else, thinking that the dragonball wasn't there. She hands the radar over to Gohan and he heads off to get it, not sensing any evil chi around. At Freeza's ship, the medical worker tells Zarbon that it should be at least another half an hour until Vegeta regains consciousness. After Zarbon goes to report it to Freeza, Vegeta blasts through the rejuvination tank, blowing the medical worker away. Zarbon and Freeza hear the sound, running to the room. When they get there, they see that the wall of the room has been blasted out and Freeza tells Zarbon to go after him. Vegeta runs to Freeza's room and sees the dragonballs unattended.

DBZ Chapter 72: Vegeta's Laughter, Freeza's Rage

Gohan arrives at the Namekian village that Vegeta attacked, seeing that it was destroyed. He finds the dragonball in the pond next to the village and figures that the Namekian villagers must've hid it there in a panic. At Freeza's ship, as Zarbon looks around for Vegeta outside of the ship, Freeza tells him that if Vegeta has escaped he will hold Zarbon responsible and will kill him. In Freeza's room, Vegeta confirms that all of Freeza's dragonballs are there, happy that they have not only healed his wounds, but have given him their dragonballs. He decides that he won't be able to leave carrying the dragonballs and comes up with a plan. He yells that he's still inside the ship and fires a blast down its hallway. He then fires a blast out of Freeza's room's window and throws the dragonballs out. Freeza figures out that Vegeta must be going after the dragonballs and Vegeta jumps out of the window, after the dragonballs are all thrown out. When Zarbon and Freeza reach the room, Vegeta and the dragonballs are gone. Zarbon jumps out after Vegeta, who leaves the ship by swimming in the pond next to it so as not to be seen. Freeza angrily tells Zarbon that he will look inside the ship while Zarbon looks outside it, including underneath. He tells Zarbon that if they do not have Vegeta in one more hour, then he should prepare himself for death. Vegeta surfaces out of the water on its opposite side. He sees the five scattered dragonballs and puts them next to each other in a cove. He then senses a great power and sees that it is Kuririn. Since Kuririn is so happy with his increase in power, he heads to Gohan at full speed, forgetting to check for evil chis. Vegeta sees that Kuririn has the last dragonball and heads after him.

DBZ Chapter 73: Reunion of Terror!

As Zarbon is hovering in the sky, looking anxiously for Vegeta, he spots Kuririn being followed by Vegeta. Immediately, he takes off after Vegeta. Vegeta senses a powerful chi following him and turns around, seeing that Zarbon has found him. Vegeta grins, knowing that now he has an opportunity to get rid of Zarbon once and for all, especially since Zarbon will most definitely be off guard from having won the last fight. Bulma gets freaked out when Kuririn suddenly lands in front of her. Kuririn finds out from Bulma that Gohan went to find the dragonball at the Namekian village that they sensed Vegeta attacking earlier. Kuririn then senses a chi coming their way and sees that it is not Gohan. Vegeta lands in front of them, scaring them. Kuririn is shocked that he could've been so stupid as to get so happy about getting stronger that he didn't even notice his chi. Vegeta notices that they must both be after the dragonballs, and tells Kuririn that he has to take care of something before he takes it. He tells Kuririn not to get any ideas of running away, or else he'll kill him and Bulma. Then, Zarbon lands, angry that Vegeta caused Freeza to lose so much faith in him. Zarbon thinks that Kuririn and he must be working together and tells Vegeta that he will tell him where the dragonballs are, hoping that Vegeta will make him nearly kill him first. Vegeta tells him to go ahead and try and Zarbon transforms. Zarbon hits at Vegeta, who dodges and gets a fistful of ground before he dodges another one of his attacks. Then, he jumps into the air and Zarbon follows. He drops the ground into Zarbon's face, causing him to stop and rub his eyes. Vegeta gets behind Zarbon and punches him hard in the back.

DBZ Chapter 74: Vegeta in Overdrive!

After having hit Zarbon in the back, Vegeta follows after him and slams him into a lake. Then, he follows up with multiple blasts, pummeling the pond. Kuririn tells Bulma that now is their chance, and takes off running with her. Vegeta spots them getting away and fires blasts in front of them, causing them to stop. As Kuririn tries to think of what they should do, Zarbon flies up to Vegeta and they both land on the ground. After Zarbon tells Vegeta that he is more powerful than him, Vegeta tells him about how saiya-jin become more powerful after recovering from the brink of death. Kuririn confirms this by remembering how it was whenever Goku survived a battle. Zarbon tells him that no matter how powerful he is, he will never defeat him in his transformed state, charing Vegeta. Vegeta yells at him that saiya-jin are a warrior race who will not lose. He blocks Zarbon's furious punches and punches him so hard in the stomach that his fist goes into his chest. Zarbon tells him that he was only following orders from Freeza and begs for him to spare him. Vegeta tells him not to make him laugh, after enslaving him for so many years. Zarbon tells him that they can work together to defeat Freeza and Vegeta blasts Zarbon through the chest. Zarbon's body falls backwards, into a pond. Vegeta then says that if Freeza could be defeated with Zarbon's help, then he wouldn't be Freeza. Then, he turns around to Kuririn and Bulma, telling Kuririn that even though Kuririn has improved vastly from their battle on earth, he still couldn't last lond against him. Kuririn asks Vegeta if he will spare them if he hands over the dragonball. Vegeta makes a promise that he won't, since he doesn't want to waste his energy squashing bugs. When Kuririn gives him the dragonball, he tells him that he's lucky that he's in such a good mood from having all of the dragonballs. Vegeta takes off laughing and Kuririn hopes that Gohan will see to it that Vegeta doesn't get his wish.

DBZ Chapter 75: Brains and Brawn

As Vegeta is in flight, he picks up on a strong chi. Gohan senses Vegeta and hides, suppressing his chi, but Vegeta knows that he sensed someone in the area. After Vegeta threatens to level the whole area if the person doesn't show themself, Gohan yells for Vegeta to wait and hides his dragonball. When Gohan climbs out of hiding he sees that Vegeta has a dragonball. Vegeta tells him that he got it as a gift from Kuririn, which leads Gohan to believe that he killed him and took it. Vegeta denies killing him, telling Gohan that he was in too good of a mood from having all seven dragonballs. As Gohan wonders about what Vegeta just said, Vegeta flies down to him and asks him what he has in his hand. Gohan tells Vegeta that the dragonball radar is just a watch. Vegeta wonders about the size of the watch and then tells Gohan to relay a message to his father, which turns out to be a kick in the stomach. Vegeta then tells Gohan that next time no one on earth will be left alive and takes off laughing. Gohan crawls to the dragonball and is glad to see that Vegeta didn't see it. After Bulma puts the house back into its capsule form, she and Kuririn wonder what could be taking Gohan, who eventually arrives with the dragonball. After a happy reunion, Gohan explains what happened and they all decide to get out of there quickly. Elsewhere, Vegeta has trouble finding his hidden dragonball and realizes that it's gone. As he wonders who could've done such a thing to him, he remembers Gohan, but then wonders how he could've found it, remembering the watch. Angrily, he searches for them, but is unable to find them since they left their previous area and are suppressing their chi down to zero. Elsewhere, in their new hiding spot, Kuririn reveals his plan to take Gohan to the Great Namek Elder. Doing so, Kuririn explains, might lead Gohan to becoming as powerful as Vegeta.
