DBZ Chapter 6: Nothing Up My Sleeve

Piccolo and Goku attack Raditz again, only to be blocked and hit. As they fly up to Raditz, Raditz blasts at both of them. Goku evades, but Piccolo's arm is blown away. When Goku lands, Raditz appears behind him and kicks him into the ground. Now Goku sees that Piccolo's arm was blown off and Raditz laughs that he'll take Piccolo's head next. Piccolo asks Goku if he has any new attacks, to which Goku replies, "Heh... for once Piccolo I'm fresh out." Piccolo tells him that they should both be thankful that he is not out.

DBZ Chapter 7: Piccolo's Farewell to Arms!?

Piccolo tells him he was originally going to use his new technique to kill Goku, but now it looks as if he's going to use it to help him. He tells Goku he needs him to hold off Raditz as long as possible while he charges his new technique up. Goku agrees and attacks Raditz, only to be easily beat up. Goku jumps into the air and does a kamehameha at Raditz, surprising him [Raditz]. At first, Raditz runs from it, but instead turns around and blocks it with his hands and shoots a blast at Goku. Goku falls to the ground and Raditz starts to pick him up (by his shirt) but turns.

DBZ Chapter 8: A Surprise Appearance

Piccolo fires his "light of death" (makankansappo) at Raditz. He sees Raditz was quick enough to side-step it, only to be hit in the shoulder. Raditz starts to charge up a blast to destroy Piccolo, but stops as we see that his tail has been grabbed by Goku. Goku squeezes it, causing Raditz to fall to the ground in pain. Goku gets Piccolo to charge up his attack again. Raditz talks his way out of Goku's grasp by telling lies about how he was bluffing about killing them and that he will leave the planet as soon as Goku lets go of his tail. Goku lets go of his tail, only to get slammed in the chin by Raditz. Then, Raditz jumps over to Goku and presses his foot against Goku's chest, torturing him. Piccolo knows he can't do his attack to Raditz now because it'll only be dodged again. At the end of this issue, Gohan bursts out of Raditz's pod in anger.

DBZ Chapter 9: Sayonara, Goku

In a rage, Gohan powers up and slams into Raditz's chest, cracking his armor. Gohan slips out of his mood, and Raditz sees Gohan's power level has dropped to one. Raditz hits Gohan and decides he has to kill Gohan because of how powerful he is. When Raditz turns away, Goku jumps up and puts his arms around Raditz's shoulders, holding him up. Goku gets Piccolo to charge up his makankansappo. Goku tells Piccolo he didn't grab Radit's tail because Raditz could cut it off if he had to. Raditz is unable to break free of Goku's grasp because the blow from Gohan has weakened him. Piccolo does his attack, sending the beam through Goku and Raditz.

DBZ Chapter 10: The Needs of the Many...

Raditz gets real angry now that he is going to be killed by people weaker than him. Piccolo tells Raditz Goku will be wished back by his friends with the dragonballs soon. Raditz laughs that he sent the message to the other two saiyajins so they'll come for the dragonballs. Raditz laughs that they'll soon be dead and Piccolo finishes him off. On a planet elsewhere in the galaxy, Vegeta and Nappa learn that Raditz is dead. Vegeta tells Nappa that they're going to with for eternal life, rather than to bring Raditz back to life. Vegeta tells Nappa they must exterminate all life on earth so that no more hybrids such as Gohan will emerge (they're too powerful, you see, and might grow to be stronger than Vegeta and Nappa...). Back on earth, Muten Roshi, Bulma, and Kuririn have joined Goku, Piccolo, and Gohan. Goku dies, immediately vanishing. Piccolo tells them that Kami-sama must have plans for Goku.
