Editorials "State of the Dimension Address: Years 4 and 5" Written: December 14, 2004 Hello everyone! It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, I'm finally done with the new layout for this website. Sorry it took so long! In case you're wondering, it took this long because I had to copy and paste a lot of writing... a lot. Furthermore, I completely changed the content layouts for just about every section. Making all the pictures took a while as well. I'd like to start off by listing the major changes that have taken place. First of all, the focus for this website has changed. I've decided to expand from Dragonball to not only other anime but to foreign films (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) as well. I've decided there is not only cool anime out there that I'd like to expose people to, but live action films as well. I'd like to use my website as a means of exposing people to stuff that I feel they should be exposed to. I'm sure I've said this at some point before but I'd like for the Reviews section to be the most useful feature of this website in the future. This website has been completely reorganized. Dragonball content is now located in the Anime section along with my favorite new anime (manga in particular), Berserk. There will probably not be much more anime added to this section because this section will serve as an exhaustive reference guide for the anime located in it. There is a new Miscellaneous section, where I plan on placing information unrelated to the main focus (anime, manga, and foreign films) of this website. I'll probably put cool multimedia in this section. I combined the About Me and Contact sections into the Webmaster section. I'm getting rid of the Polls section and Guestbook for now. I may bring them back in the future. The Site Timeline has been renamed Site History. The Updates Archive is down for now. I will probably add it to the Site History section in the future. The FAQ section is really small for now. I'll expand it as I answer emails. I felt the Acronyms section was kind of out of place... I don't think I need it anymore. If I get emails asking about website acronyms in the future I may add it to the Miscellaneous section. I feel that I don't need the Gateway section anymore because the site organization is pretty self explanatory and I'm hoping people will have an easy time navagating this website. That brings me to what I'd like to address next, site navigation. I'm not 100% confident in the new organization scheme. One of the best aspects of the old site layout was its navigation. Every section was listed in a navigation panel on the left side of the screen. Now multiple links may have to be clicked for a user to get back to where they were. I'm hoping this isn't too much of a problem. If the site begins getting cluttered I'll probably change the organization so that it's more navigatable. Another issue is old text. Some of this website's content, namely the Dragonball content, was written a long time ago. Therefore, the text is not very professional and may be hard to read at times. I'd like to go back and rewrite it all... but that would significantly delay the addition of new content. So I think I'll just apologize ahead of time for it and leave it be. If I come across something ridiculous I'll rewrite it. I'm sure you'll notice a lot of sections' pictures are missing. This is the first time ever that this website has had a white background. A lot of pictures I made in the past were designed for a black background. New pictures will be added to the sections as time goes by. Dragonball sections may take a while to get new pictures but it should all be okay, eventually. Some of you may not like this new design. I like it. It'll probably stay similar-looking to this design for a long time. Don't worry though, nothing is set in stone. I am still not completely satisfied with the design and will make changes in the future. I just wanted to get this website up as soon as possible before I lost all of my visitors, if that hasn't happened already... That about raps it up for the changes I wanted to address. Now let's talk about the future. In the future I'd like to build the Berserk section into a massive reference guide. I'd like to add a Characters section, Places section, Predictions section, and Multimedia section. For the Reviews section I'd like to add an in-depth review of Shaolin Soccer along with a bunch of short reviews for more Asian films that I've seen. I will add more banners and pictures to this website and make changes here and there to the layout. I also want to add several new sections to the Miscellaneous section, namely Girls and Comedy. If I experience problems with bandwith I'll have to do something about the site banners... I'd like to come up with a banner where the only thing that's randomized is the little picture on the left side of it. I may have to either reduce the size of multimedia sections or cut them out if bandwith continues to be a problem after that. I'm sorry that I had to shift the focus of this website, but I felt I wasn't able to contribute anything truly useful anymore to Dragonball fans now that new episodes are just about over (if they're not over already) and there are plenty of good websites out there already. But don't fret, I will still add new stuff every now and then to the Dragonball sections.
