Lonely Final Battle
(a.k.a. Bardock TV Special)
Written May 27, 2000
What's really cool about TV Specials is how you get to see an explanation expanded upon.
The Trunks future and the destruction of Planet Vegeta started out as explanations, and
luckily winded up becoming 45 minute TV Specials. This was the first Dragonball TV Special
and I thought it was pretty good.
First of all, I thought the music was really good. I liked how they used some of my favorite
themes and the creepy-ish music was kinda cool too. There are also two nice vocal songs
used (besides Head Cha La), which include Solid State Scouter and Ougon no Compass.
There were some nice emotional scenes in this, including the ending, the death of Tomat, and
the credits. This may not be action-packed, but it doesn't have to be. This is supposed to be
more of an explanation than fighting. Though there are some nice fighting scenes in this movie
as well, but not as many as there are in.. say.. a DBZ Movie.
There were some cool side stories in this movie as well, which didn't have to be there but
thankfully were anyway. Some of these side things are Bardock being cursed with seeing the
future and the parts with Chibi Vegeta. It was cool to see Vegeta as a kid (and Nappa with hair,
hehe). Plus, the part with Bardock being cursed with seeing the future didn't have to be there
but were added, making the special much more interesting.
I can't really say much more than I already have, without completely ruining the story. So,
if you have the money, I recommend buying this (subbed by S. Baldric). If you're interested
in buying action-packed stuff, then this may not be for you. But, if you'd like to buy
something different and interesting, then I fully recommend buying this from a reliable
fansubber (preferrably
DBGoten's Trading Zone, which
is where I purchased it).
