DBZ Chapter 36: Too Much Power?
Vegeta tells Goku that he chose the wrong opponent, the "greatest warrior among all saiyajins."
Then, he's surprised to see Goku's muscles bulging all over his body. Goku yells it's time for a
Kaio-Ken Times Three and the scouter Bulma's (Raditz's former scouter) explodes because Goku
has obtained such as high power level so fast. Now Vegeta's really worried, but it's too late as Goku
jumps at Vegeta and slams him in the face. Goku follows up by going around Vegeta and kicking him into the air.
Vegeta stops himself and fires a blast at Goku, who quickly flies past it. Then, Vegeta fires another
blast at Goku, who dissapears and reappears, hitting Vegeta in the face, into a mountain.
Then, Vegeta blows the mountain apart and throws a punch at the incoming Goku, who jumps behind Vegeta
and knees him in the back. Vegeta runs to Goku and punches at him, only to be slugged in the chest.
At last, Goku stops and Vegeta hops away, up to the top of a pillar. Vegeta stands there wondering how
Goku surpassed his power, as Yajirobei realizes Goku might actually win. Goku realizes "he's got to finish
this quick, or things are going to be bad."

DBZ Chapter 37: Battle in the Red Zone!!
When Vegeta realizes he has shed his "noble blood" from "trash," he decides to destroy the planet.
As Vegeta charges up his blast, Goku decides he has no choice but to gamble on countering it with a
kamehameha while using a kaioken times three. Vegeta fires his gyarrikku-ho and Goku counters with
his kamehameha. Both Vegeta and Goku continue to fire their blasts, resulting in a tug-of-war.
Then, Goku does a kaioken times four, pushing Vegeta's blast right back at him and causing him to
be shot into the sky.

DBZ Chapter 38: The Moon
Yajirobei realizes Goku has "defeated" Vegeta and he races toward him. He tells Goku that Goku
must've not noticed him and he pats Goku on the back. After Goku screams in pain, he discovers Goku's
body's a wreck, and Vegeta should be returning soon. When he hears this, Yajirobei suddenly leaves.
Meanwhile, above the clouds, Vegeta gets off of Goku's blast, not being able to believe that Goku
has more power than him. Then, he laughs that his ape form is enough to even terrify himself. Vegeta
is also glad that they arrived on a full moon night, but looks around in surprise that the moon isn't there.
After searching around for a bit, he decides Goku must've destroyed the moon as a precaution, but
he laughs that he has another plan. Vegeta flies down and lands in front of Goku that "the
greatest saiyajins can compress the planet's atmosphere with a power ball to create a small, artificial moon
that reflects 10 million zeno. Vegeta explains that moonlight is only sunlight reflected, but only when reflected by the moon
does it contain green-spectrum radiation. He also explains that when the moon is full, its radiation
exceeds 17 million zeno units per second. When saiyajins absorb that amount through their eyes, a reaction is set off in
specific gland in their tails, causing their oozaru transformation to begin. Then, he throws it in the air and uses it to
start to transform.

DBZ Chapter 39: The Energy Sphere
When Kuririn and Gohan are flying back to the turtle hut, Kuririn turns around, noticing
that "some huge chi just exploded." They think it must be Vegeta's, since it was so huge.
Gohan decides even though he might not be able to help, he just has to go back. Kuririn disagrees that
they go, but follows after Gohan anyway. Goku watches paralyzed while Vegeta transforms into his
oozaru form (I've never heard the term used in the manga, but I'm going to use it anyway because I
think it sounds better than "giant ape"). Goku remembers that he's heard of apes like what he sees,
deciding that Vegeta killed his grandpa. Vegeta laughs and tells Goku that a saiyajin is most powerful
in its ape form, causing Goku to realize that he, himself, was the one who killed his grandpa.
Goku apologizes to his grandpa and decides he will ask for forgiveness when he sees him in heaven.
Goku goes to shoot Vegeta with an energy sphere, but Vegeta throws a punch at him. Goku dodges, but
is kicked anyway. He hits the ground and does a kaioken to escape another blow. Vegeta dives at Goku,
but Goku does Tenshinhan's Taiyo-ken, temporarily blinding Vegeta. Then, Goku lands on the ground and
begins to charge up a genki-dama.

DBZ Chapter 40: All That Power...
As Goku charges up the genki-dama, Vegeta eventually recovers and spots Goku. Then, Goku realizes
that it's done forming, and goes to shoot Vegeta until Vegeta does the unexpected and fires an enormous
mouth blast at Goku. As Vegeta lands in front of him, he realizes that the genki-dama is gone and he has
no power left at all. Goku dodges before Vegeta can stomp on him, but he is hit in the air with
a swat from Vegeta's hand. Goku slams into a rock pillar and Vegeta stomps on his legs. Goku tells
Vegeta that he is beaten, but one day he's going to pay. Then, Goku gives Vegeta "something to remember him
by," by shooting a blast in Vegeta's eye. Then, he tells Vegeta to do whatever he wants to him, because
now he [Goku] has absolutely no power left. Vegeta recovers and starts to crush Goku with his hands.
