"Why The Next Dimension?"
Written: January 26, 2000

Now to finally answer the question: "Why did you choose the name The Next Dimension?" I have been wanting to answer this question with an editorial for a long time, and due to the fact I have had alot of snow days recently, I have finally had enough time to write it.

I know that FUNimation coined the term The Next Dimension, The Other Dimension, and Another Dimension as substitutes for the afterlife. I always thought it would be humorous to have this name, so that when you hear the dub use those lines you may think of my site. For example: "...You'll be waiting at a bus stop in the Next Dimension!" That just sounds a little funny... you know? Someone sent to my site? A bus stop at my site? Heh... heh.. oh well. Anyway, that wasn't really a reason but I just thought it sounds funny how the older seasons of the dub are referring to The Next Dimension all the time.

Also, about the thing I mentioned in my FAQ about not wanting a < insert name here >'s Dragonball Z site... I do not mean that as an insult. Some great pages out there have names like that (VegettoEX's site, SREDBZ's site), so I do not mean that statement as a negative statement. I just felt there were enough sites out there with names like that and I just wanted to be different. In all my time on the internet, when I was first creating this site, I didn't see or hear of another site called The Next Dimension, so If someone out there has the name (lately, I have discovered some that have...) I apologize and it's too late (I'll explain why soon).

Lately, I have had second thoughts about keeping my site as The Next Dimension, because so much disrespect is used toward FUNimation's having come up with it. Plus, they don't even use it in the dub anymore. Though, if you're seeing re-runs you will still here it used. And believe me, there are reruns... plenty of them. But a little while later, I realized that HFIL is used more as a joke than the other/another/next dimension stuff. And I use the HFIL thing in a joke way as well. Also, there was another site (and a great one at that) named The Home For Infinite Losers a while back. Unfortunately, that site is no longer with us...

My site isn't really based on the next dimension anyway. It doesn't have a theme relating to the next dimension, nor will it ever. Basically, I wanted a nice, unique name that would match a black background, without using _insert name here_'s Dragonball Z site. I do not respect FUNimation for having used the other dimension theme, so don't get any ideas. I think they should've done as good of a job translating and censoring as Viz did with the manga, but they didn't and unforunately there's nothing that can be done about that. I seriously doubt FUNimation will ever even consider redubbing Seasons 1 and 2, so those episodes will always contain the other dimension theme.

Now, I will cover why it is too late. It's too late to change, I'm afraid. Though, I still am satisfied with my name. It's too late to change because I went through enough trouble putting The Next Dimension on tons of banners, pages, and movieclips and it would take far too much time to change my name. I can't really think of any other good names anyway, so I guess you could say that I'm going to be stuck with this name for a long time, if not forever.

So basically, I'm satisfied being called The Next Dimension. Though other people, as well as I, dislike FUNimation's whole other dimension death substitute, I am planning on sticking with this name for quite a while. And if you still think I'm stupid for using this name, then why don't you ask the owners of The Home For Infinite Losers and The Other Dimension why they used their names?

Well, I'm done explaining... are you done complaining?
