Dragonball - What's Dragonball?

What is Dragonball you ask? Well, Dragonball is anime/Japanese Animation. Dragonball, the series that came before Dragonball Z was created in 1984 by Akira Toriyama and aired from February 26, 1986 to February 19, 1989 with 153 episodes. Dragonball Z came after that, from April 26, 1989 to January 31, 1996, with 291 episodes. Dragonball GT came after that, but it had nothing to do with Akira Toriyama (except for a few character sketches) and was created by Toei Animation. Dragonball GT was created February 7, 1996 and ended November 21, 1997 with 64 episodes.

Dragonball was mainly about Goku growing up, and his adventures with other friends such as Krillin (Kuririn), Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, Pu'ar, Master Roshi (Kame Sen'nin), and more. Later in Dragonball, the Red Ribbon Army is introduced, we get to see Tenka'ichi Budokai tournaments, Goku training with Kami-Sama and Karin as well as how he and Piccolo originally were enemies. It started off with mostly comedy and progressed into the Tenka'ichi Budokais with action and more fighting. Then, Akira tried a different approach with Dragonball Z, where he made it about Goku and his friends in their adult years and it was almost all action this time. It is one of the most popular anime in the world, reaching several countries including Japan, America, Greece, Spain, Canada, and many others. Up until now, there have been around 13 Dragonball Z movies, 2 TV specials (the Trunks and Bardock specials), and 291 episodes produced in Japan. There are also "OVA's", which are actually video game footage and re-released manga (with a short, new ending). However, FUNi is quickly dubbing everything, so those numbers will constantly get higher... Dragonball GT, is about Goku getting wished by Emperor Pilaf to be small again. At first, it is about Goku and others searching for Dragonballs spread throughout the universe. Then, after that, several new villains are introduced, including Super Android 17, Evil Shenlong, and more.
